The Five Skills – Introductory Level

Memorization Begins with the Very First Steps

This book accompanies Bidayah (1) at the same learning level, and the two books are taught together to build the student’s foundations in Qur’anic reading, understanding, and memorization. From Surah An-Nas to Surah Ash-Shams, students progress through five integrated skills: Listen, Read, Write, Understand, and Memorize.

Students listen to the verses and imitate the teacher through direct oral practice, developing clear articulation and correct pronunciation. They practice accessible reading, then develop early writing and pencil-control skills to reinforce the visual forms of letters and words, particularly connected and combined letter forms. Through the teacher’s guidance, students also develop a simple, general understanding of the verses before progressing to teacher-guided memorization, training the memory to absorb, retain, and recall new words and verses in preparation for the Foundational Memorization Level.

The learning journey is further supported by audio and visual resources for recitation and simplified Qur’anic explanation, reinforcing imitation, understanding, and practice while supporting students, teachers, and families throughout the learning process.
