From Reading Qur’anic Words… to Fluent and Masterful Recitation

Once students have mastered the foundations of reading Qur’anic words, their journey continues with Level Two of the Bidayah Curriculum, progressing from accurate word reading to applying Tajweed to words, reciting verses correctly, and ultimately developing fluent, confident, and proficient Qur’anic recitation.

Bidayah (2) introduces a modern, interactive approach that differs from traditional methods of teaching Tajweed. Rather than simply presenting Tajweed rules, it trains students to understand, identify, and apply them through a carefully structured progression, extensive Qur’anic examples, and practical application. Innovative activities include measuring letter timing by counting on the fingers, timed reading exercises to develop speed and fluency, and adding the correct vowel marks to unvowelled Qur’anic verses, along with a variety of interactive exercises that actively engage students in learning and application.

The book is also supported by QR-accessible audio resources, enabling students to listen, imitate correct recitation, and practice independently. A progressive assessment system begins by identifying the student’s level at the start of the book and continues with assessments at the end of each unit to measure progress and mastery. The content is presented in a clear and accessible format suitable for learners of different ages.
